A devastating fire erupted at the super board factory owned by TK Group in Gazaria, Munshiganj, on Sunday, prompting the deployment of 10 fire service units to contain the blaze.

The first fire service unit rushed to the scene within 22 minutes of receiving reports of the fire incident at Jamaldi in Hossaindi Union of Gazaria upazila around 1:11 a.m.

Rifat Mallik, the in-charge of Ghazaria Fire Service, reported, "We immediately responded to the news, dispatching two units from Ghazaria Fire Service Station to initiate firefighting efforts. Subsequently, an additional eight units from Narayanganj and Dhaka joined the operation."

Eyewitnesses recounted that workers first noticed the fire in the company‍‍`s jute warehouse during midday. Initially, company employees attempted to extinguish the flames themselves before contacting the fire service for assistance.

The fire reportedly intensified due to the narrow access road and inadequate water supply within the facility.

Rifat Mallik reiterated the challenges faced by firefighters, stating, "We encountered difficulties due to combustible materials present inside the factory. The cause of the fire remains unknown."

OC Rajib Khan of Ghazaria police station remarked, "Upon receiving the alert, we promptly responded to the scene. However, cooperation from the company has been lacking, hindering our efforts."

Hossaindi Union Parishad Chairman Monirul Haque Mithu expressed concerns about the factory‍‍`s inadequate fire safety measures, noting previous warnings issued to the management regarding the deficiencies, which were allegedly disregarded.
